About Me

Natalie Peoples is a visual storyteller and documentary filmmaker based between Washington, DC and Virginia’s eastern shore. Her work centers on conservation, marine ecosystems, and the preservation of wild places with a focus on the people working at the front lines to protect them. Natalie holds a B.S. in Environmental Science and B.A. in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Her field experience spans coral reef ecology in the U.S. Virgin Islands to ichthyoplankton sampling off the coast of Cape Hatteras. She blends science and storytelling, translating complex research into character-driven stories that highlight the most pressing threats facing species and ecosystems today.

Her work has been published online, in print, and broadcast, including a photo essay on noninvasive lemur research featured in the Duke Lemur Center’s annual magazine and a PBS SciNC segment on brewery sustainability that aired statewide across North Carolina, on which she served as assistant producer and second camera. Natalie is currently pursuing her masters in New Media Photojournalism at George Washington University.
