Carol Ann McCormick, the curator of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Herbarium - a subset of the North Carolina Botanical Gardens- is responsible for sorting, filing and collecting plant specimens among other management tasks. The herbarium boasts a collection of over 800,000 specimens, which are used by scientists to identify new plant species, land managers to document distributions of plants, and others to record flora and fauna of the region.
